Rob grew up in South Florida, where daily afternoon storms and hurricanes piqued his interest in meteorology early on. That interest was fostered by his teachers and his father, who one time brought him onto the roof of their home to watch a funnel cloud move through the Everglades several miles away. Years of filmmaking and tv production in high school gradually pushed him toward broadcast meteorology at Florida State University, where he joined and eventually led the student run daily weather show. After graduating with a Bachelors of Science in Meteorology, he began his career at KESQ in Palm Springs, California before heading to KFSN in Fresno and WLOS in Asheville, North Carolina. He has covered a diverse array of extreme weather events, including haboobs and flash flooding in the desert, extreme snow in the Sierra, hurricanes, and Appalachian ice storms. He also enjoys telling stories and reporting about weather issues.

Back-to-back low pressure systems are cruising through the eastern half of the country into the weekend, bringing cooler temperatures and scattered rain &amp; snow showers. As the second low drops into the Midwest and South Thursday afternoon, it will tap into warm &amp; moist air, leading to the chance for severe storms. This will continue on Friday across the Southeast.<h2>Outlooks</h2>Thursday's best chance for severe storms will stretch from SE Missouri to western Georgia, where wind and hail damage are more likely. It's that time of year again! Spring is officially back. The Masters tees off on Thursday morning, a golf tournament that many look forward to all Winter long. The pimento sandwiches and the blooming azaleas are perfect enough, but the weather's not looking bad, either.<h1>THE MULLIGAN</h1>There is one day that might have some weather-related impacts. A cold front is slated to drop through the southeast Thursday night into Friday. That will fire up a few showers and storms - although the coverage is still in question. The limiting factor looks to be actual moisture - which is a fine problem to have, given the past week in this part of the country.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/04/Screenshot 2025-04-10 063554-1744288563984.png">If anything, conditions in the morning on Friday will be a little softer around Augusta National compared to those that tee off in the afternoon.<video src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/04/2025-04-10 06-36-09-1744288595675.mp4" controls="true" width="100%"></video>Thursday looks to be the hottest day of the tournament before the front arrives. Today, meteorologists and research scientists at <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://tropical.colostate.edu/forecasting.html">Colorado State University (CSU)</a> have released their outlook for the 2025 Atlantic Hurricane Season. Dr. Phil Klotzbach and the Tropical Meteorology Project at CSU are among the first to issue an outlook for the season. Early predictions expect this year's hurricane season to be busier than average. This year they anticipate 17 named storms, 9 of which will become hurricanes and 4 of those are expected to become major hurricanes (CAT 3 or greater).<div data-youtube-video=""><iframe width="640" height="480" allowfullscreen="false" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/NpwxsMmHDIU" start="0"></iframe></div>Forecast factors that contributed to their above average outlook focus on the El Nino/Southern Oscillation (ENSO) and sea surface temperatures. In the coming months, a transition to ENSO neutral is expected. That usually does not give a strong single for an above or below average season. However, by the end of the summer into early fall (climatological peak of hurricane season), a potential transition to La Nina is forecast. There is not much certainty on the likelihood or intensity of that La Nina transition, though. Nonetheless, an absence of El Nino which traditionally suppresses hurricane activity is enough to warrant an above average forecast.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/04/Screenshot 2025-04-03 081623-1743689797271.png">Sea surface temperatures in the tropical Atlantic remain above average this year. The dangers from previous days' torrential rainfall across the mid-south still loom, as residents begin to return to their neighborhoods. Prolonged heavy rainfall in parts of Kentucky led to over a foot of rain, with other parts of Missouri and Arkansas seeing over 7 inches of rain. A quasi-stationary boundary stalled out, bringing multiple waves of severe weather and torrential rainfall last from April 2nd through 6th, 2025.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/04/Screenshot 2025-04-07 073929-1744033179371.jpg"><div class="twitter-tweet" style="display: flex; justify-content: center" data-twitt-post-id="1908905034558943307" src="https://x.com/WeatherNation/status/1908905034558943307"></div>Many residents displaced by the flooded waters, wanting to get back home, were instructed by Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear to wait to return home instead of driving through flooded roadways. Turn Around, Don't Drown. Flood alerts are ongoing as rivers, creeks, and streams remain high. The threat of severe weather continues this Friday. Thunderstorms capable of producing a few tornadoes will be possible.
