Severe storms roared through the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast Monday through Tuesday, with widespread reports of wind damage and large hail. Numerous tornado warnings impacted New York and Pennsylvania while damaging winds took aim at the mid-Atlantic. Due to the heavy rainfall over the first half of the week, soils will be more susceptible to flooding with additional storm activity.
Two storm systems are working across the east coast on Thursday with scattered showers and storms promoting a few severe storms (above). Isolated tornadoes can't be ruled out along the coast.
As storms push east on Thursday, the afternoon and evening hours look to favor the severe weather threat, including a tornado or two.
The Weather Prediction Center has issued a marginal (level 1 out of 4) risk for flash flooding across New England. In these areas, there are saturated soils, so any additional rainfall could result in flash flooding.
