Patrick Crawford has always been a huge weather buff! He grew up in Plano, Texas, and it was there that he experienced what Mother Nature was capable of doing. He would always turn on the television to see what local meteorologists were saying about the weather. That's when he realized he wanted to be a meteorologist.

Patrick graduated from Northern Illinois University (’04) with a degree in Meteorology and a double minor in Mathematics and Geography. Broadcast Meteorology has been great to him and he has been able to work in television markets all across the country. Some of his stops have included New Orleans, Green Bay and even Yuma, Arizona. He is so excited to be part of the WeatherNation team.

He has been awarded the prestigious CBM (Certified Broadcast Meteorologist) weather seal from the American Meteorological Society.

Back-to-back cold fronts will bring shower and thunderstorm chances to areas of the Ohio and Tennessee River Valleys on Friday. All modes of severe weather will be in the forecast, including the risk for tornadoes. Storms on Thursday created wind damage from New York to Tennessee, with a potential tornado in east Tennessee. Parts of Ohio and Kentucky are under the Slight risk for severe storms on Friday, meaning scattered severe storms will be in the forecast.<div class="twitter-tweet" style="display: flex; justify-content: center" data-twitt-post-id="1963942694750724361" src="https://x.com/WeatherNation/status/1963942694750724361"></div><h1>Severe Storm Outlooks</h1>A cold front will bring strong storms to the eastern U.S. on Saturday. Training storms will be possible and that will lead to a risk for some flash flooding.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/09/PIC1-1757122596357.jpg">While wind damage is expected to be the primary threat on Friday, an isolated tornado or two will be possible across Southern New England through the Hudson River Valley in New York.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/09/PIC1-1757122665394.jpg"><h1>FORECAST</h1>Storms are likely to gain intensity earlier on Saturday compared to Friday, possibly before noon in northern New England, before strong storms spread south along the cold front during the afternoon and evening. We currently don't have a severe weather outlook for Sunday, but areas along the coast of North Carolina and Massachusetts (Cape and the Islands) could see a few severe storms early Sunday.<video src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/09/Forecast-1757123970898.mp4" controls="true" width="100%"></video>Rainfall totals could surpass 2-4 inches in a few areas, posing the threat for localized flooding.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/09/Screenshot 2025-09-05 062826-1757075325739.png">WeatherNation will have more updates online and on-air through the day on Friday.

Severe Storms for the Eastern U.S. Saturday

<h1>EASTERN PACIFIC</h1>Hurricane Kiko continues to churn West. It's expected to gradually weaken through early next week and approaches the Hawaiian Islands.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/09/PIC1-1757107078610.jpg">The mid-range forecast brings Kiko close to the Hawaiian Islands. Residents should monitor this forecast closely over the next day or two, making preparations as necessary over the next several days. Expect rainfall as it passes, but the larger impacts will be high surf and large swells expected to reach the Hawaiian Islands towards the end of this weekend. These swells could cause life-threatening surf and rip currents.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/09/PIC3-1757107071183.jpg">Most of Lorena's impacts will be in Mexico, but some of that the moisture gets siphoned off and ends up around the 4-Corners <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.weathernationtv.com/news/moisture-from-hurricane-lorena-hits-the-southwest-this-weekend">where it creates flood potential</a> into the weekend.Another potential area of development over the open waters has a low chance of developing in the next seven days. A center of low pressure could form in a few days, before some organization and slow development is possible into next week.

Rob grew up in South Florida, where daily afternoon storms and hurricanes piqued his interest in meteorology early on. That interest was fostered by his teachers and his father, who one time brought him onto the roof of their home to watch a funnel cloud move through the Everglades several miles away. Years of filmmaking and tv production in high school gradually pushed him toward broadcast meteorology at Florida State University, where he joined and eventually led the student run daily weather show. After graduating with a Bachelors of Science in Meteorology, he began his career at KESQ in Palm Springs, California before heading to KFSN in Fresno and WLOS in Asheville, North Carolina. He has covered a diverse array of extreme weather events, including haboobs and flash flooding in the desert, extreme snow in the Sierra, hurricanes, and Appalachian ice storms. He also enjoys telling stories and reporting about weather issues.

Moisture from now Post- Tropical Cyclone Lorena will be pulled to the northeast across the lower Four Corners and Texas through the weekend. Flash flooding is the primary concern, though a few strong thunderstorms are possible along with gusty winds that could create blowing dust.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/09/PIC1-1757122049205.jpg">Flood potential is expected to gradually shift east to Texas through the weekend, with much of the Four Corners clear of the flood risk by Sunday.<h1>Forecast</h1>Heavy downpours are expected to quickly form and fall into the afternoon hours on Friday. By Saturday, moisture gets pulled far enough to the south and east that flood chances should taper off farther west and north, such as the Sierra or the deserts of California.<video src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/09/BAMS-1757087908781.mp4" controls="true" width="100%"></video>Pockets of 3-4 inches of rain are possible, especially around the Four Corners. Moisture From Lorena Hits The Southwest

A tropical disturbance in the eastern Atlantic has a 60% chance of becoming a tropical depression within the next seven days. The National Hurricane Center (NHC) assigned the tropical wave, as Invest 91L, on Thursday. According to the NHC, this broad area of low pressure is moving slowly west-northwest at a speed of around 5-10 mph.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/09/pic5-1757115838155.png">If development continues, Invest-91L would be classified as&nbsp;Tropical Depression Seven&nbsp;and could be named&nbsp;Tropical Storm Gabrielle by this weekend or early next week. Models are giving a strong indication that the system could gradually strengthen as it moves across warm waters in the central Atlantic.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/09/Screenshot 2025-09-05 053129-1757071898125.png">However, as of now, it is still relatively far out to see where it could be headed. Different models have vastly different paths at this time. The outcome will largely depend on how organized the system becomes in the coming days. The strength of the system will also determine where it ultimately heads. Weaker systems are steered more by mid-level flow, while stronger systems are controlled more by steering currents that extend farther into the atmosphere.<video src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/09/FORECAST-1757032519723.mp4" controls="true" width="100%"></video>Do not let your guard down. September is historically the peak of hurricane season, and ocean conditions remain favorable for additional development. Whether or not this particular system develops into a named storm, it serves as a reminder that the Atlantic remains active and that the window for tropical threats is far from closed. Alana is the oldest of 4 siblings, all close in age, and grew up playing outside with them in all types of weather. After graduating high school, Alana moved to study at the University of British Columbia in Kelowna for a year before transferring to Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia where she completed a Bachelor of Science in Physics and Atmospheric Science. Upon completion, Alana moved back to Toronto where she completed a post-grad degree in Meteorology at York University. After her post-grad, she went on to complete another post-grad in Broadcast Journalism - TV News at Fanshawe College in London, Ontario. During her final year of studies she had the privilege of interning with the best in the business in Canada at The Weather Network. Once she finished her internship, she got the call from small-town Denison, Texas where she accepted a job as an on-air meteorologist at KTEN-TV, right in tornado alley, covering severe weather from Sherman/Denison (North Texas) to Ada (Southern Oklahoma). After the most active tornado season Oklahoma had seen in May 2019 (105 tornadoes!) Alana is excited to join WeatherNation to cover weather all across the nation. NORTHERN PLAINS - A series of cold fronts will move through the Midwest to the northeast over the next several days. First, a cold front that moved down from Canada on Tuesday will continue to bring strong storms, gusty winds, and cooler temperatures across the Northern tier of the country through the end of the week. Then, this weekend, a second cold front arrives from Canada to reinforce the cooler air.<video src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/09/09-03 RNC STORMS-1756955636998.mp4" controls="true" width="100%"></video><h2>Temperatures</h2>Behind the front, temperatures will drop significantly as winds shift to the north.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/09/Screenshot 2025-09-02 160633-1756850797164.png">For many areas, this will be the coolest air since spring, even cooler than the most recent bout of chilly temperatures.
